stuff like this makes me wish youtube was around when i was in college. we would have had so much fun doing stuff like this. i wonder if i can find a bunch of middle aged folks with free time to do something like this some day. ... whenever i get a little free time. we can't let the college kids have all the fun, now can we?
they say/sing it so quickly that i think one guess is as good as another. i'm still can't really tell what they're singing. but what i think is particularly interesting about that is that i knew immediately what they meant, even though i still can't figure out exactly what word they're using. must be well "contexted."
yes, it is very fast paced, so it's hard to catch the words. but like you say, it's obvious enough what they mean. the visual side helps.
btw, I didn't realise at first that it was a spoof on an existing song, so didn't understand why there was this surreal patchwork feel to it. once you mentioned the original lyrics, that shed a whole different light on it.
yeah, i didn't even bother watching much of the original original.
what i love about the acapella is that it's all so simple and yet it still sounds great. there's no flashy affects or mind-blowing editing. but the sound is good and there's enough going on that you're engaged.
i'd love to play around at doing something like that. ... some day.
cute... I like those battle scenes... but the "I spin my latke in the air" thing is so surreal...
ReplyDeletei thought it was throw...
ReplyDeletei think that's to make it fit the tune. i don't remember what the original song has at that point, though.
I like their version of "One Day" too -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLDl8fbJx0I

ReplyDeletemiddle age is when people don't have time... wait till retirement, then you can have fun :)
ReplyDeleteI've listened again and I think it's "flip".
ReplyDeletebut in the original version it's throw, apparently:

that was fun
ReplyDeleteok, now we think it's "fling."
ReplyDeleteThis was great
ReplyDelete"fling" makes sense. and I'm sure you're better at working out american accents than I am :)

i think it's actually a riff on another youtuber's riff on the original song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjCLQaTFXx0 which is an acapella version of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUjdiDeJ0xg
ReplyDeletewell, I have to say I much prefer the acapella version, much more interesting!

yes, it's not flashy, I think that's what I like about it too. that original one was... well... not my scene at all...
ReplyDeletea ha! it's apparently "flip" according to this article in the Denver Post this morning.
ReplyDeletecool! nice also to read about how it came about.
