How would you describe the difference between reformation and transformation?

  2. transformation is inner, reformation is outer

  3. Transformation takes as input an object and produces something completely new.

Reformation takes an input an object and produces the same object but with changes or adjustments.

    thanks, you two.

my take on it was that reformation means taking something that used to be good but that somehow turned bad and restoring it back to the good state it used to be in. whereas transformation seems to take one thing and turn it into another. ("the kids transformed the broom into a coat rack by nailing it to the wall and attaching a hanger.")

  5. the reason i ask was that i saw this quote:What happens to the Christian is not a mere reformation or surface improvement. The gospel is not something that just changes a man and makes him a little bit better ... it is a vital work which is done by God in and upon the soul, at the very center and vitals of a man's life and existence. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones-The ...Life of Joy It was posted on a page I follow in FB. my first thought was that I've never thought of reformation as being something that's "mere". it seems like a pretty substantial concept in my mind. but the guy that posted the quote explained that martyn was referring to reformation as opposed to transformation... like that was supposed to clear things up.
